When I read Vannetta Chapman’s first novel in the Pebble Creek Amish Series (A Promise for Miriam), I was hooked. It was my favorite Chapman series and I was only on Book One! Then, finally, Book 2 (A Home for Lydia) arrived. Could Chapman deliver again? Absolutely!
A Home for Lydia tells the story of Lydia, a strong-headed Amish woman <gasp!>, who’s trying to keep it all together – caring for her large family and keeping her job at the Plain Cabins of Pebble Creek to help support her mom, dad and all her younger siblings.
Aaron Troyer arrives in town, determined to do his business (take care of his late uncle’s Plain Cabin business) and then hightail it back to Indiana – his home – where he dreams of farming his own land.
BUT, when Aaron and Lydia’s worlds collide, tensions rise and passions are suppressed. And it wouldn’t be a Vannetta Chapman series if there wasn’t a bit of mystery! How will it all end? Read and find out!
Readers of A Promise for Miriam will be thrilled to continue the stories of Gabe, Miriam and Grace. For this reason, I highly recommend reading Book One before reading Book Two – Book Two is not a stand-alone. Chapman has made great efforts to weave a story so full of love, intrigue and Amish values that the reader feels like he/she is floating along Pebble Creek itself!
Although I am thrilled the third installment in this series, A Wedding for Julia, is out, I cannot say that THIS reader is ready to say good-bye to the wonderful characters of Pebble Creek! I was given this book by the publisher in exchange for my honest review. Honestly, you’ll be enchanted by Pebble Creek!

Thanks so much for the review. I’m glad you enjoyed Lydia’s story.
