Peace by Shelley Shepard Gray

Shelley Shepard Gray welcomes us back to Yellow Bird Inn, the quaint little bed and breakfast tucked away in Crittenden County, Kentucky. If you recall there was a murder involving one of their own in this seemly idyllic Amish community. Lots of secrets were exposed and many lives were turned upside down. Remember Beth Byler? Well, Beth has been pining away for the elusive Chris Ellis, who made quite the impact on her during his stay at the Inn while undercover during the murder investigation and then disappeared from her life. Imagine her surprise when he comes back needing a place to hide-out looking like he got ran over by a truck! How can she simply turn her back knowing he needs her help even if it means trouble could soon be on its way? Beth is kind and compassionate but she is no fool. The repercussions of her decision to help Chris could be bad…very bad.

It’s not what you see that lets you know that Christmas is just around the corner. It’s that special feeling of expectation that suddenly fills the air. – Beth Byler

This is my favorite quote from Peace because everyone knows that feeling, right? The anticipation of seeing family and friends, attending parties, present opening and eating too many goodies. Shelley certainly has given readers a wonderful present….a visit with old friends during Christmas, what could be better? We must have been good this year because she also stuffed our stocking with some romance and a little danger but most of all we get a heartfelt story of love, loss and finding “peace” through it all.
