My Brother’s Crown Review by Susan Scott Ferrell

My Brother’s Crown – Literary Magic ~

My Brothers CrownMindy Starns Clark and Leslie Gould are gifted authors in their own right. But there is a certain kind of literary magic that occurs when the two collaborate on a novel. I first witnessed this with their outstanding series, The Women of Lancaster County. When I saw that they had decided to join forces again, I could hardly wait to start reading their newest series, Cousins of the Dove. They have found their literary magic again with the first book in this series, My Brother’s Crown.

My Brother’s Crown follows the lives of two very spirited women. There is Catherine Gillet, in 1685, France. She is a Huguenot and her life is at risk every day. Her brother, Jules, seeks to protect her with a document that has a secret code. Can her family be saved?

Then there is Renee Talbot, living in Virginia, present day. She is fascinated by a centuries-old document with some encrypted code. Will unlocking the code help her deal with some of her own secrets?

I received My Brother’s Crown in exchange for my honest review. It was an extremely well-written read. As a reader of primarily Amish fiction, I found this novel to be equally satisfying. Having never read anything about the Huguenots before this, I found their religion and way of life (and the world around them) absolutely fascinating. There is a lot of mystery and intrigue throughout the novel – prepare to lose sleep! I am ready for Book Two in the series. My Brother’s Crown has left me begging for more!

Susan Ferrell and her husband make their home in the Atlanta Metro area. Although Susan struggles with chronic migraine headaches, she stays very busy as a stay-at-home mom to one very precocious little girl. While catching her breath, she feeds her Amishaholic tendencies by reading vast amounts of Amish literature!
