Huckleberry Hearts – Not as Amish, but just as Great!
It’s been too long! I have longed to return to Huckleberry Hill and Jennifer Beckstrand has not satisfied me for a bit longer. Anna and Felty Helmuth are back in Beckstrand’s sixth installment of her Matchmaker’s of Huckleberry Hill series with Huckleberry Hearts!
Huckleberry Hearts is much different from the others in this series in that Anna and Felty are trying to match up their granddaughter, Cassie Coblentz – who left her Amish roots to go to college – with Anna’s young and dashing doctor, Englischer Zach Reynolds.
Cassie, although a renegade by leaving her community, is a people-pleaser at heart. And when it comes to her domineering and controlling mother and eldest brother, she prefers the path of least resistance.
Zach has a trail of broken hearts in his past. With is winsome smile and charming demeanor, he’s rather convinced he can have any girlfriend he wants…until he meets Cassie, who is wise to the like of guys like Zach. When tragedy strikes, both are challenged in their beliefs about love, trust, and faith.
I was given Huckleberry Hearts in exchange for my honest review. At first, I was disappointed that it was not more “Amish-y,” but I quickly recovered with a great storyline and appealing characters. Huckleberry Hearts can easily be read as a stand-alone. Although characters from other books are casually mentioned, they are not a distraction. Beckstrand continues to prove what a talented storyteller she is. I now know when I see a novel with Jennifer Beckstrand’s name on it, I’m going to want to read it!
Susan Ferrell and her husband make their home in the Atlanta Metro area. Although Susan struggles with chronic migraine headaches, she stays very busy as a stay-at-home mom to one very precocious little girl. While catching her breath, she feeds her Amishaholic tendencies by reading vast amounts of Amish literature!

Susan, I love this! Thank you so much. Huckleberry Hearts is definitely different than the other Huckleberry Hill books, but I hope it has enough Amish in it to satisfy my readers, plus enough tears and laughter in it to satisfy everybody. 🙂 Thanks again for your kind words. So glad you liked it.
I think it will be a hit! 🙂
