The Courtship Basket Review by Susan Scott Ferrell

The Courtship Basket – Recipe for Romance

Courtship BasketWhenever I get a novel by Amy Clipston, I can be guaranteed some sleepless nights ahead. As soon as I saw the cover of Clipston’s latest release, The Courtship Basket (second in her Amish Heirloom series), I knew I would have some night of insomnia ahead. Clipston delivers yet again!

The Courtship Basket follows heartbroken Rachel Fisher, who has taken a job as a teacher for kids that are learning disabled. Perhaps this new position will take her mind off her sad disposition?

When new student John Lantz joins Rachel’s class, his older brother Mike accompanies him. Mike carries the weight of the world on his shoulders: His dad is a very ill, and since his mom has passed away, he then plays both mom and dad to his young brother.

Rachel develops a soft spot for little John and his family and sends a picnic basket home with John to help the family out. Will this simple gesture help Rachel overcome her woes? Will it help relieve Mike of some of his burdens? Read and find out!

I was given The Courtship Basket in exchange for my honest review. I think this can be read as a stand-alone, even though it is part of a series. I have not read Book One yet, but I was too antsy and decided to give it a try. I am definitely one who likes to read book in sequence, but it was easy to follow along…so don’t let that stop you from reading this one now! Clipston does a phenomenal job of weaving Rachel and Mike’s stories together. I was completely invested in their stories – and truly cheered on little John as he struggled and triumphed with his learning disability.

Another keeper for the bookshelf, The Coursthip Basket is a recipe for romance!
