It is no secret that I am a fan of Leslie Gould’s work. She captivated me with her collaboration with Mindy Starns Clark in The Women of Lancaster County series. When Gould branched out and started her series The Courtships of Lancaster County, I was hooked from Book One (Courting Cate.) Taking a cue from some of William Shakespeare’s tales and working them into an Amish story has proved scintillating and exciting. I feel the same as I finish her latest Book Five in the series, Becoming Bea.
Becoming Bea tells the fascinating story of Beatrice (Bea, to those that know her well) Zook, a young Amish woman who has never been afraid to tell people like it is. Bea is a homebody and the antithesis of her hard-charging, overbearing sister Molly. When Bea is given the opportunity to help a family juggling three newborn triplets, she learns there is more to her…and she likes it. Childhood friend – and nemesis – Ben Rupp has always had a tumultuous friendship with Bea. Can both look past their own insecurities and take hold of God’s blessing for them? Read and find out!
I was given Becoming Bea in exchange for my honest review. It was wonderful. Although, as a mom, I found myself tired while reading of all the care that was required of caring for three newborns simultaneously!! This book can be read as a stand-alone, but if you are new to the series, you may be lost by the mention of some of the earlier storylines. Overall though, a fantastic, quick read! Bring on Book Six! Maybe….Satisfying Susan?
