Amish Sweethearts Review by Susan Scott Ferrell

Amish Sweethearts – A Stellar Journey

Amish SweetheartsLeslie Gould has been a favorite Amish genre author of mine since she collaborated with Mindy Starns Clark in The Women of Lancaster County series. I cheered through her Courtships of Lancaster County series, and was downright giddy when the first book, Amish Promises, released from her new series Neighbors of Lancaster County came out. But I had to be honest, it wasn’t my favorite. So when Book Two in the series, Amish Sweethearts, arrived, I was cautiously optimistic. Well, I had to throw my caution to the wind! Gould delivers a stellar storyline with this one and you’ll be hard-pressed to find another like it!

Amish Sweethearts follows the friendship of neighbors Lila Lehman and Zane Beckman. Lila has held down the fort of her Amish family’s household – taking care of the younger kids, running the day-to-day, taking a job at the local restaurant – all under the careful, scrutinizing eye of her overbearing father.

While Lila’s father arranges a courtship between Lila and the bishop’s son, Reuben, Zane (longtime friend, neighbor…and Englischer) is crushed. To be free of Lila, he joins the Army. But is he really free? As Lila prepares to marry Reuben, Zane is headed to war-torn Afghanistan. Will these two find their way back to one another…to friendship…or more? Read and find out!

I was given Amish Sweethearts in exchange for my honest review. I found the storyline and sub-plots well thought-out and engaging. Gould truly had me guessing until the end to know how this was going to turn out. Well done, Leslie Gould! Thank you for the journey!
