Tiffany Girl – A Colorful Novel Not to be Missed – Review by Susan Scott Ferrell

I am most often found reading something within the Amish genre, except for a few outliers. Deanne Gist is one of those authors who has always captivated me with her storytelling. When my copy of her latest release, Tiffany Girl, arrived I could hardly wait! Over 500 pages, and my daughter figured I would have this novel read by next year. Ha! Try barely sleeping and reading it in two day. Yes – it is THAT good.I am most often found reading something within the Amish genre, except for a few outliers. Tiffany Girl is set in late 1890s New York and follows Flossie Jayne, an aspiring artist trying to find her way in a changing world. Women are striving for more independence – to become a “New Woman” at the same time men are striking for higher wages. This strike directly effects Louis Tiffany, who is attempting to create a most glorious stained-glass chapel at the Chicago World’s Fair. When Tiffany picks Flossie as one of his “Tiffany Girls” to help complete his project, the adventure begins! Although Flossie came from sheltered beginnings, she is learning a whole new way of being as a New Woman, especially when she finds lodging at a boarding house with a bevy of colorful characters – including a very interesting one just next door. Hmm…

I was given Tiffany Girl in exchange for my honest review. It is fantastic. Deanne Gist has gone above and beyond with this historical novel. Although it is fiction, it is based on historical fact. I loved seeing corresponding photos of actual Tiffany Girls and sketches of clothing from that time period interspersed throughout the novel. I did not even realize that Tiffany Girls existed – now I am obsessed! The storylines and characters that Gist created around the actual facts were engaging, enticing and winsome. My only criticism of the novel was that it had to end! But now YOU can start from the beginning – grab your copy today!

Susan Ferrell and her husband make their home in the Atlanta Metro area. Although Susan struggles with chronic migraine headaches, she stays very busy as a stay-at-home mom to one very precocious little girl. While catching her breath, she feeds her Amishaholic tendencies by reading vast amounts of Amish literature!
