Annie Martin, an Old Order Mennonite, has a strained relationship with her mother. She feels she cannot get through to her about her lack of parenting skills. After an argument, her mom sends her to stay with her Daadi Moses. Annie adores her grandfather and loves spending time with him, but she is hurt that her mother has essentially thrown her out. She starts working at the diner her grandfather co-owns. As she works alongside Aden Zook, who is Old Order Amish, she begins to realize how much she has grown to care for him. Aden is a shy boy who stutters and is a fantastic artist. He feels he has always lived in his twin brother Roman’s shadow. Aden has become Roman’s caretaker after a farming accident forced Roman to be wheelchair bound. It is forbidden to date outside their faiths, but Annie and Aden cannot ignore their feelings for one another. They secretly meet at night in her grandfather’s cherry blossom orchard. Both knowing full well what would happen if they were found together. Meanwhile, Roman is having some issues of his own. He feels abandoned by Aden who has always told him everything. He feels since Annie’s arrival Aden is keeping secrets from him. With the odds stacked against them can Annie and Aden figure out a way to be together? This book is a heartfelt story of what one would be willing to sacrifice in order to be with the one they love. I absolutely loved this book! It is beautifully written and will leave you fully satisfied. Happy Reading!
