The Healing by Wanda Brunstetter is the second book in the Kentucky Brothers Series. This book follows Samuel Fisher whose wife Elsie tragically dies when she falls down their basement stairs. Elsie was pregnant with their fifth child. Samuel is lost and alone trying to raise four children. He makes a rash decision to move to Kentucky from Pennsylvania with his brother Titus. He hopes a change of scenery can help mend his broken heart. Esther Beiler, who is a character from book one, agrees to watch Samuel’s children while he works on remodeling a local bed-and-breakfast owned by Bonnie Taylor. As time passes Samuel and Esther grow to care for one another but Samuel struggles with promises he made to his deceased wife. Can he overcome these struggles and heal his heart? The Healing is a endearing story of how one copes with their grief. Do they let it consume them or do they fight to overcome all that they have lost? I enjoy Wanda’s books very much. She writes each character so well that despite their flaws you feel yourself rooting for them to get their happy ending. If you read The Journey you will definitely love this book. Happy Reading!
