The Saddle Maker’s Son – Fabulous!
I have been riveted since Page One of Kelly Irvin’s The Amish of Bee County series. The Beekeeper’s Son was so well-crafted. The Bishop’s Son was downright brilliant. But could Irvin keep up the buzz? YES!
The Saddle Maker’s Son finally tells the story of Rebekah Lantz – the ever-faithful, ever-constant and true sister of Amish-turned-Englisch Leila. Although Rebekah has not had any desires to flee her community, she is under constant judgment and scrutiny due to her sister’s actions.
Newcomer Tobias Byler, his father, and his passel of siblings descend upon Bee County. Tobias is fleeing some indiscretions of his own…and hoping that Bee County is just the place to turn over a new leaf.
When two non-Amish, non-English speaking kiddos cross paths with Rebekah and Tobias, Rebekah and Tobias are forced to work together to help the children – and to perhaps help themselves along the way.
I was given The Saddle Maker’s Son in exchange for my honest review. Although this wasn’t my favorite in the series, it still is a very compelling read. Kelly Irvin has a unique ability to create characters and storylines that are fresh, exciting, and new to the Amish genre (which is becoming increasingly difficult to do!) Kudos to Irvin for delivering yet another fabulous novel!
