How Does Your Garden Grow?
I say this every spring—I can’t wait to start gardening. The catch is that I’m not a gardener. My husband has a very green thumb, but my gardening skills aren’t much pretty nonexistent. I do enjoy a lovely garden, and my favorite garden vegetables are tomatoes. Nothing beats a sweet tomato freshly picked and still warm from the sun.
In stark contrast to myself, the lead character in my novella Flowers for Rachael (in An Amish Garden) is an excellent gardener. She also has a lot at stake in her garden—she depends on it to help bring in money so she can take care of her grandfather. Rachael is so focused on taking care of her garden and her grandfather that she loses sight of what’s really important—allowing God to provide. With the help of her neighbor Gideon, she learns that lesson.
What about you? Do you sometimes let earthly worries steal your focus from what’s important? And what about gardening? Do you have a favorite vegetable or flower you like to grow?
Comment below for a chance to win a copy of An Amish Garden, with novellas by me, Beth Wiseman, Vannetta Chapman, and Tricia Goyer.
Blessings,
Kathleen
