After getting my first taste of Beth Shriver’s writings with Rumspringa’s Hope (Book One in her Spirit of the Amish series), I was drooling with anticipation for the next book in the series to arrive. When Love’s Abundant Harvest arrived, I couldn’t start it soon enough. Have no fear, readers: Love’s Abundant Harvest is yet another winner!
Love’s Abundant Harvest tells the story of Lucy Wagner, a pregnant Amish woman imprisoned by her authoritarian husband, Sam. Lucy longs for more than the day-to-day grind on their farm, as well as the overwhelming harshness of Sam. Sam seems to care for little else than himself. When a fire claims the life of Sam, as well as their farm, Lucy goes to stay with her grandmother. Along the way, she meets mild-mannered Manny – the antithesis of Sam. Manny longs to help Lucy, but Lucy struggles with the demons of her past relationships.
Love’s Abundant Harvest was a gripping read. Shriver had me wanting to jump into the pages and smack Sam! Although a couple of the characters from Book One are brought into this one, it does not detract from the storyline. Therefore, Love’s Abundant Harvest can easily be read as a stand-alone. There were a couple of moments in the last 30 pages or so, where I felt the pace could have moved a bit faster, but overall, it was a very solid read. With Book Two now out of the way, the waiting begins again…Book Three, The Choice, releases in the Fall of 2015!

Susan Ferrell and her husband make their home in the Atlanta Metro area. Although Susan struggles with chronic migraine headaches, she stays very busy as a stay-at-home mom to one very precocious little girl. While catching her breath, she feeds her Amishaholic tendencies by reading vast amounts of Amish literature!
