Hooked on A Hopeful Heart: A Review by Susan Ferrell

hopeful heart twoSince Amy Clipston’s series The Kauffman Amish Bakery ended, I have been counting the days until Clipston released a new Amish fiction series. A Hopeful Heart, Book 1 of Hearts of the Lancaster Grand Hotel, does NOT disappoint!
The readers are led on a journey through the lives of Hannah, an Amish widow with three children; Joshua, Hannah’s brother-in-law, who has always kept his affections for Hannah hidden since childhood; and Trey, an Englischer widower that has come to Lancaster with a plan and a promise. All three are hoping to find a special person to fill their heart with hope.
This book was a delight to read. Amy Clipston hooks the reader from the very beginning and before you know it, you’ve read 100 pages! Clipston’s main and secondary characters are well thought out and full of charm. Although this is the first book of the series, it may be read as a stand-alone but do not be at all surprised to find that you’re chomping at the bit for book two!
I was given this book by the publisher in exchange for my review. I’m so thankful to have done so! It was a delightful read. Welcome back to the Amish genre, Ms. Clipston! Your stories have been missed!

Susan Ferrell and her husband make their home in the Atlanta Metro area.  Although Susan struggles with chronic migraine headaches, she stays very busy as a stay-at-home mom to one very precocious 5-year old. While catching her breath, she feeds her Amishaholic tendencies by reading vast amounts of Amish literature!

  1. Thanks for the review Susan. I too loved the Kauffman Amish Bakery series and was looking forward to what Amy wrote next. Can’t wait to read it.
