Amish Weddings: Review by Susan Scott Ferrell

Amish Weddings – A Fond Farewell to Juneberry Lane

amish weddingsIt’s hard to believe, but the end has come to Leslie Gould’s Neighbors of Lancaster County series. But don’t think for a moment that the final novel, Amish Weddings, goes out with a whimper. Prepare yourself to be drawn in by the first few pages and be swept away to Juneberry Lane in no time. I found this to be the best novel of the entire series, hands down.

In Amish Weddings, spirited and fun-loving Rose Lehman is the final of-age Lehmans yet to find love. She’s ready though. She and the bishop’s son, Reuben, have been spending lots of quality (verging on boring) time together, but when her future brother-in-law’s Army buddy comes to visit – and he’s easy on the eyes – Rose’s attention becomes divided.

Sound complicated? Just wait. Rose’s sister Lila is severely injured in a horrific accident. This scenario tests the faith and patience of many. For Rose, it allows a bit of a mini-rumspringa…even though she’s already a baptized member of the church. Where will Rose end up in all of this? Read and find out!

I was given Amish Weddings in exchange for my honest review. Leslie Gould outdid herself with this final installment of the series. The characters are endearing, frustrating, funny, and perplexing. The storyline and subplots are engaging. Although this can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading the other two books in the series (Amish Promises and Amish Sweethearts) to get the full back-story. Amish Weddings is a satisfying end to a delightful series. I actually had a tear drop or two at the final pages! So long, Juneberry Lane – you will be missed!

Susan Ferrell and her husband make their home in the Atlanta Metro area. Although Susan struggles with chronic migraine headaches, she stays very busy as a stay-at-home mom to one very precocious little girl. While catching her breath, she feeds her Amishaholic tendencies by reading vast amounts of Amish literature!
