A Promise of Grace Review by Susan Scott Ferrell

A Promise of Grace – A Satisfying Read ~

A Promise of GraceWhen I received Lynette Sowell’s most recent release, A Promise of Grace (third in her Seasons of Pinecraft series), I wasn’t sure what to think. While I found her first in the series (A Season of Change) to be quite different from anything I had read in the Amish/Mennonite genre, I wasn’t sure I was a fan. A Promise of Grace has changed my mind – for the better. Sowell scores a win with A Promise of Grace!

A Promise of Grace follows middle-aged Rochelle Keim, an established resident of the famed Pinecraft community of Sarasota, Florida. Although very content and happy with her life, she has decided to finally fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse, but the appearance of a lost love enters her life again and brings confusion along with him.

Widower Silas Fry is just moving to Pinecraft from Ohio with his college-aged daughter and teenaged son. Prior to Ohio, he served as a missionary pilot for twenty years with his wife, Belinda – Rochelle’s childhood friend. The two women parted on less-than-cordial terms.

Can Silas and Rochelle find their way back to one another, or has too much time passed? Read and find out!

I was given A Promise of Grace in exchange for my honest review. I found it to be a good, solid read. Although there are some references to characters from Books One and Two, I do not think it detracts from the storyline at all and can easily be read as a stand-alone. Sowell thoroughly impressed me with her storytelling in A Promise of Grace. She smoothly moved the story back and forth from past to present with ease, and it was not distracting in the least. This was a most satisfying read! Kudos to Lynette Sowell!

Susan Ferrell and her husband make their home in the Atlanta Metro area. Although Susan struggles with chronic migraine headaches, she stays very busy as a stay-at-home mom to one very precocious little girl. While catching her breath, she feeds her Amishaholic tendencies by reading vast amounts of Amish literature!
