A Faith of her Own – Decisions, Decisions! – Review by Susan Scott Ferrell

Faith of Her OwnI feel like I have been waiting forever for Kathleen Fuller’s latest release, A Faith of Her Own. It’s not because she hasn’t had a release in a long time (she has), but when you’ve read all of Fuller’s writings and you hear there is a new one on the horizon, you start to have withdrawal symptoms. Such was my ailment until I could get my Fuller Fix. A Faith of Her Own was a satisfying read, down to the last page.

A Faith of Her Own tells the story of Anna Mae Shetler, a young Amish woman who is still trying to find her place in her Amish community. She is at odds with her mom and she’s ready to break free from the confines of her surroundings. When childhood friend Jeremy Mullet (formerly Amish, now considered a Yankee) unexpectedly returns to Middlefield to help out the local Yankee veterinarian, it causes upheaval for all – especially Anna Mae.

I was given A Faith of Her Own in exchange for my honest review. Kathleen Fuller knows how to craft a good story. The main storyline, as well as the subplots, were told with precision. She develops each character so well. Fuller fans will remember Anna Mae’s character from her Mysteries of Middlefield series (although it is for younger readers, I highly recommend it!) And while A Faith of Her Own can certainly be read as a stand-alone, reading that series may give some added depth to the characters as you read along. At any rate, my strong recommendation is that you pick up a copy of this novel. In my opinion, it is one of Fuller’s best yet.
